Chalmers Gaston Davidson was born in Chester, South Carolina and graduated summa cum laude from Davidson College in 1928. He completed graduate degrees at Harvard, and then returned to Davidson College to serve as professor of history and library director. Dr. Davidson's life work was the study of regional history and service to Davidson College. He published several books including "Plantation World Around Davidson" and "Piedmont Partisan."
